Lil' Pumpkin Baby Shower Theme

lil pumpkin baby shower

Celebrate the little pumpkin on the way with a pumpkin themed baby shower. This theme is perfect for an autumn baby shower. Pumpkins are one of the first things that come to mind when you think of fall and they can be found all over the place. This can also be a cute, not so scary, Halloween baby shower theme.

Pumpkin Baby Shower Invitations

Make some pumpkin shaped invitations. Click here (opens in a new window) for a free printable pumpkin template. The template has several sized pumpkins to choose from. Print them out on orange card stock and cut them out. Color the stem with a green marker. On the invitations write something like: "A cute little pumpkin is on the way! Let's celebrate before the big day!" Then include all the other details like the mom-to-be's name, date, time, location, and where she is registered.

If you want an invitation that opens, just print out two pumpkins for each invitation. Stack two pumpkin invitations on top of each other and use a hole punch to make a hole either on the top or the left side. Feed a piece of ribbon through the hole and tie in a bow to keep the pieces together.

Pumpkin Baby Shower Decorations

Use orange, green and brown for your colors. Add other fall elements to your decorations like pumpkins, fall leaves, flowers, and pine cones.

Buy 10 mini pumpkins and write one letter on each pumpkin to spell out b-a-b-y s-h-o-w-e-r. You could also tailor it for the baby's gender by writing it's a boy or it's a girl on the pumpkins. If you are doing a Halloween baby shower theme, carve the letters in the pumpkins like you would a jack-o-lantern and put candles inside. Align the pumpkins on a table.

And of course, every pumpkin baby shower needs a pumpkin patch! Put a bunch of pumpkins of different sizes on a table or where ever you want your pumpkin patch to be. Make a cute sign that says Pumpkin Patch.

pumpkin baby shower decorationsDecorate the pumpkins with fun designs, ribbons and embellishments. Put some double sided tape all the way around the middle of the pumpkin, then put your ribbon over the tape. You could also tie ribbon around the stems.

Paint fun designs on the pumpkins using stencils. Or make stripes or polka dots. Use painters tape to make the stripes, by putting strips of tape all the way around the pumpkin. Paint the pumpkin whatever color you choose, then remove the tape.

Use glitter paint or adhesive gems and rhinestones to give your pumpkins some sparkle.

If you are planning a Halloween baby shower, you could incorporate jack-o-lanterns in your decorations. Carve some cute faces in some pumpkins or string some jack-o-lantern lights around the room.

Pumpkin Baby Shower Centerpiece Ideas:

pumpkin baby shower centerpieceMake a floral centerpiece with a pumpkin. Cut a hole in the top of a pumpkin, scoop out the guts, and line the inside with foil. Put a piece of floral foam inside the pumpkin with just enough water to saturate it. Stick fresh flowers in the floral foam and you have a cute pumpkin centerpiece.

Put some floating pumpkin candles in a decorative glass bowl with water. Arrange some artificial autumn leaves around the bowl.

Pumpkin Baby Shower Food Ideas

  • Honey baked ham
  • Roasted Turkey
  • Broccoli or green bean casserole
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Mashed potatoes with gravy
  • Croissants or dinner rolls

And of course, serve plenty of pumpkin themed foods.

Pumpkin Baby Shower Games and Activities

Pumpkin carving contest- give each guest a mini pumpkin and a carving knife and have them carve a face or design in the pumpkin. If you have a large group, you could divide everyone into small groups and give them a bigger pumpkin to carve. Have the mom-to-be pick out her favorite designs for the winners.

Variation: If you don't want the mess of carving pumpkins, you could just let everyone decorate a pumpkin. Put out different paints, markers, ribbon, stickers or other embellishments. The person with the most creative or cutest pumpkin wins a prize.

Pumpkin Toss- hollow out a large pumpkin (save the seeds for the next game below). Set the pumpkin on a table or the floor and mark a line about 6-10 feet away. Have each guest stand behind the line and try to toss a pacifier into the pumpkin. Give each person 3 tries. The person who does the best wins. If you have a tie, have those people keep playing, but have them take a step back from the line before each try. Keep playing until one person is left.

More pumpkin baby shower games:

Guess how many- Fill a jar or large baby bottle with pumpkin seeds. Have each guest guess how many are inside. The person who guesses the closest wins.

Don't say "pumpkin"- this is a variation of the don't say "baby" game. Give each guest a few clothespins. Whenever someone hears another person say "pumpkin" they take one of their clothespins. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the shower wins a prize.

Pumpkin Baby Shower Favors
