This is my first baby shower cake made for my son's teacher.
For the actual cake:
It was a basic white cake recipe, frosted with white butter cream frosting (Wilton's butter cream frosting recipe). I piped dots around the outer edge along with a shell edge along the top and bottom.
The Wood Floor:
I rolled out my homemade white marshmallow fondant, made indents and lines, and painted it with brown food coloring mixed with citrus extract. I let it air dry and then applied to the top of the cake right before the shower began. The rug, the chair, and the foot stool were hand-sculpted and made out of the same thing, with nothing holding it together. They were dried at different stages. The chair was made to look like a similar chair on the internet.
For mom-to-be:
I hand-sculpted her completely out of homemade marshmallow cream fondant (Marshmallow cream and powered sugar mixed to dough consistency.) Also, I customized her to look like the real mom-to-be. Make up was applied with food coloring and citrus extract.
Baby Buggy Cakes:
Were made from the same white cake, and put in a 4" round pan, and then cut in half and put together, side by side. The top of the buggy was hand sculpted and made from same fondant, the handle and wheels were made from white chocolate melts and applied with white chocolate melts. The wheel were put into biscuit cutters before application.
The Babies in the buggies were molded in a mold and made from the same marshmallow cream fondant in a skin tone color. Blankets for the babies were rolled out fondant, and indented with fondant tools.
