Picnic Baby Shower
The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!

picnic baby shower theme

A picnic baby shower theme is perfect for an outdoors baby shower. Have your picnic at a park, the beach, or your own backyard. It is also great for a co-ed shower and works for a boy or a girl.

Invitations:

Make your baby shower invitations in the shape of a watermelon or picnic basket. On the invitations write: Let's have a picnic! Please join us for a baby shower honoring (mom's name).

Picnic Baby Shower Decorations

You can keep the decorations pretty simple with this theme, especially if you are having it out doors.

Put red and white gingham tablecloths on the tables.

Use small picnic baskets as table centerpieces. Fill each basket with fresh flowers or fill with baby items.

Sprinkle some plastic toy ants on the tables.

Hang a banner that says: The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!

Red and white balloons (or whatever colors you are using).

Picnic Baby Shower- Food

Serve food that you would pack for a picnic like:

  • Sandwiches- peanut butter and jelly, chicken salad, egg salad, and turkey and cheese. Serve them out of a picnic basket.

  • Fresh fruit- watermelon slices, apples, oranges, bananas, grapes. Or make a fruit salad.

  • Cheese and crackers

  • Brownies and cookies

  • Make a cake that says: The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah! Put some plastic ants in a line marching across the cake.

  • Serve lemonade and iced tea to drink.

cupcake cones

You could also serve these cupcake cones from Betty Crocker. They are cupcakes baked in an ice cream cone and topped with icing and sprinkles. You can make them up ahead of time and don't have to worry about them melting like real ice cream would.

Picnic Baby Shower Games

Guess how many- fill a picnic basket with diapers. Have each guess write down how many diapers they think are in the picnic basket. The person who guesses the closest wins. Mom-to-be gets the diapers and the picnic basket.

Don't break the water- This is an outdoor game. Fill up some water balloons (enough for each guest). Have them put a water balloon between their legs and make it from one point to another without breaking the balloon.

*Variation: if you don't want to get your guests wet, use baking potatoes instead of water balloons. Have them put as many potatoes as they can between their legs and make it from one point to another without dropping them. Have a bucket at the end point for them to drop the potatoes in without using their hands.

Baby Bottle Race: Give everyone a small baby bottle filled with a beverage of your choice (juice, milk, water) and have a race to see who can finish first. This is a fun baby shower game to play at a co-ed baby shower. You can fill the baby bottles with beer and watch the guys race to chug their beer. It is very hard to do!

Picnic Baby Shower Favors

Fill mini picnic baskets with candy or other treats.

Cookies or brownies wrapped in cellophane and tied with a ribbon.
