Easy Oreo Truffles
If you love Oreo cookies and chocolate truffles, then you will absolutely love these Oreo truffles.
The recipe below makes about 25 truffles, depending on how big you make them. If you want more, use the family size pack of Oreo cookies and 1-8oz. cream cheese plus another 4 oz. cream cheese.
Ingredients:
-
1 package regular Oreo cookies
-
1 (8 oz.) package of cream cheese, softened
- Chocolate almond bark or candy melts
How to Make Oreo Truffles
1. Grind up the entire package of Oreo cookies in a food processor or blender. It helps to break the cookies into pieces before you process them. If you don't have a food processor, you can put them in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin or tin can. You want them crushed enough that there aren't any big chunks and the white cream disappears. Put about 1/4 cup of the crushed Oreos to the side so you can sprinkle them after dipping (optional).

2. Add the package of softened cream cheese and mix well. The mixture will be like a thick mud.

3. Scoop a ball out of the mixture using a small scoop or spoon. Roll it around in your hands until you have a nice round ball. Place on a pan lined with parchment paper.

Now, if you want to go the easy route, crush some more Oreos and put in a shallow dish. Roll each Oreo ball in the crushed cookies and return to the cookie sheet. Once you have done this with all of them, put in the refrigerator so they can firm up. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Oreo Truffles with Chocolate or Candy Coating
If you want your truffles to have a candy shell, follow steps 1-3 and then put them in the refrigerator (do not roll in the crushed cookies). Let them firm up for several hours until they are hard.
When they are nice and firm, melt your chocolate or candy melts in a coffee cup. In my experience, it is better to have a container that is deep and not too wide, so you can dunk it in the chocolate and pull it out quickly.

Stick a fork in the truffle and submerge it in your chocolate or candy melts completely and quickly pull it out. Then, gently tap it on the side of your cup until the excess chocolate drips off. Only take about 6 or so at a time out of the refrigerator when ready to dip. If you take them all out, by the time you get half way through, they will start to soften up again and fall apart in the chocolate.

Next, use another fork to slide it off the fork and onto your parchment paper. Sprinkle with more crushed Oreo cookies if desired. After the outer coating hardens, put them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
