Jungle Diaper Cake

by Becca C.
(Elyria, oh)

Supplies for Jungle Diaper Cake:

pkg of white diapers (at least 56 in a pack)
pkg of lg rubber bands
roll of double sided tape
pkg of clear hair ties(found in hair section at dept store)
ribbon of choice( i used giraffe print and monkey print)
decorations of choice: frog, turtle, and giraffe
bag of party grass
2 8oz baby bottles
pkg of newborn/infant socks
bag of glitter twistie ties(long ones found in craft section at dept store)

Jungle Diaper Cake Directions:

1. Pre-roll up at least 56 diapers starting with open end to closed end and wrap with clear hair tie.
2. Stand up an 8oz baby bottle on flat surface. Place a lg rubber band around the bottle. Start to add 6 diaper inside the rubber band so it's surrounding the baby bottle. After a row is finished(should contain 6 rolled diapers)place another lg rubber band around existing row of rolled diapers. Then, start another row. You should only do 3 rows total for the bottom of the cake.
3. Add a lg rubber band to the existing 8oz baby bottle. Begin to add 2 rows of rolled diapers, making sure to put a rubber band around each finished row of diapers.
4. Place second 8oz baby bottle upside down on top of existing baby bottle. Finished off with one row of rolled diapers following instructions above.
5.Cut ribbon to size so that is fits around each layer of the diaper cake and secure with double sided tape. I overlapped the giraffe print ribbon with a thin green monkey ribbon.
6. Add party grass to each layer of the cake and gently tuck in the grass into the diapers to make it secure.
7. Place the glitter twisty tie on top of the sock(open part)roll up each sock from open side first to form a rose bud. Use clear hair tie to tie the bottom of the flower to hold its shape. Stick the twisty tie inside the diapers of the diaper cake so it's sprouting out like a rose. you can bend it a little if needed.
8. Add the frog and turtle to the diaper cake by securing it with double sided tape. I secured it by rolling the tape in a bubble and placing is underneath the animal's feet and stuck it to the diapers of the diaper cake.
9. Place party grass on top of the diaper cake. Place choice of animal( i used giraffe) and secure it with double sided tape so it's secure on top of the cake.

Giraffe Baby Shower Diaper Cake

by Alexis
(Lafayette, NJ USA)

I followed the instructions posted on this website, never having made a diaper cake before. I purchased and rolled a box of 86 medium diapers. I made three tiers but made them larger then the instructions. I used items such as binkies, teething rings, bottles, bibs and onesies to fill the gaps. I tied each layer with ribbon and placed a cute little giraffe on the top. For my first cake it looks fabulous and I'm soo excited for the shower on Sunday to show everyone! thanks!
