Homemade Baby Shower Favors to Make

washcloth lollipops

Washcloth lollipop favors- these "lollipops" are made out of baby washcloths. They are simple to make and can also be used as decorations, centerpieces or a gift for the mommy-to-be.

washcloth cupcakes

Baby Washcloth Cupcakes- here is another cute way to give out washcloths. They can be given out as homemade baby shower favors or given to the mom-to-be as a gift.

What you'll need:

  • washcloths- 1 for each cupcake (use the ones with a colored lining around the edge)
  • cupcake liners
  • curling ribbon

Instructions:

Step 1:

Lay a baby washcloth flat on a hard surface. Jelly-roll the washcloth lengthwise until you have a long, flat roll.

Step 2:

Starting at one end, roll the washcloth up to the other end. Roll up at an angle instead of straight across to get the icing look. Adjust as needed to get your desired look.

Step 3:

Tie a ribbon around the cupcake to secure it.

You can also put cupcake picks in the washcloth cupcakes that say thank-you or the mom's name and date to make them even cuter and more realistic. To make your own homemade picks, use a 2 in. circle craft punch to punch out card stock and either stamp or write thank you on them. Hot glue or tape them to a lollipop stick or toothpick. Put one at each place setting or make a cute display.

If you are giving them as a gift for the mom-to-be, put them inside a cupcake box or wrap in tulle. Make sure to see our diaper cupcakes too, they just like the washcloth cupcakes except made with diapers.

Sweet and Spicy Body Scrub

  • 1 cup pure cane sugar
  • 3/4 cup light olive oil
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl, making sure to break up any clumps of sugar. Spoon into containers. Attach a cinnamon stick to the jar with a ribbon for an extra touch. Bake the cookies 8-11 minutes or until done. Let them cool completely.

More homemade baby shower favor ideas:

Cinnamon Buns- wrap in cellophane bags and attach a tag that says: "thanks from (mom's name) and her bun in the oven".

Popcorn- put popcorn in bags or boxes and attach a favor tag that says: "thanks for popping by" or "(mom's name) is about to pop!"

You can also put out favor bags or boxes and let the guests take home left over desserts from the shower. I like to serve a lot of desserts (usually a whole table full) so this is my favorite homemade favor idea. Guests get to pick and choose what they want to take home, and you don't end up with a bunch of uneaten desserts!
