I have to say that I was so happy when I received this submission from Tasha! She made an adorable baby carriage using diapers and other baby supplies that a new mom will need, like wipes, baby wash and receiving blankets. So creative and a nice change from the usual diaper cake. She was kind enough to share how she made this diaper carriage with us too, here are the instructions in her own words:
"This one was a little more of a challenge to make. First, I made the wheels and did it by spiral rolling diapers together and then rubber banding them and covering the bands with ribbon. Then added flower stems as "hub caps".
I took a package of baby wipes (not the ones in the hard plastic containers, the refill type ones) and placed a rubber band around it. Then, I started to stuff rolled diapers around it.
The top was the hardest, I took a piece of poster board folded (for added sturdiness) and cut to the size I needed. Between the fold I glued some lace and then stretched a piece of thin elastic from one end to the other. I curved it and attached it under the rubber band that the rolled diapers on the base were held to. Then I sort of stuffed and spread the diapers out under the elastic.
I stuffed a small bottle of J&J baby wash and lotion on each side of the wipes, added a recieving blanket to cover the wipes (I actually advise doing this before you rubber band the diapers around the container of wipes--just a tip from learning as I went).
I attached the wheels to the cake board with soft medical tape and placed the carriage on top of the wheels. I decorated it with ribbon, pacifiers, wash cloth butterflies and added a stuffed bear. It was a lot of trial and error, but turned out pretty cute. This one is for another shower I have in 2 weeks."
Thanks for sharing this cute and creative diaper carriage with us Tasha! I am sure it will be a big hit at the baby shower. I am going to have to give one of these a try myself, love it!
