Clothesline Baby Shower Theme

The clothesline baby shower theme is a classic theme that works well for a boy or girl shower. Baby clothes and accessories are the main focus of this theme, and who can resist little baby clothes? I think this one works best for an outdoor baby shower, but you can definitely make it work indoors too.

Clothesline Baby Shower Decoration Ideas:
First, you will need to decide where you want to hang your clothesline. If you are having the shower outside, use a large tent or shade canopy. String the clothesline around the outside of the tent, tying the clothesline to each leg of the tent. Do this on three sides, making sure to leave one side open for guest to go in and out of. If you don't have access to a tent, you could string your clothesline between some trees or posts.
Next, hang baby clothes, blankets, socks, bibs, newborn diapers, etc. with some clothespins.
If you are having the party indoors, hang your clothesline along the wall or any other focal point. Just make sure that it is secure enough to hold the baby clothes and doesn't get in the way. You don't want your guests having to duck to go underneath it.
Make a clothesline banner with diapers that says: Baby Shower or Jane's Shower. Write each letter on a disposable diaper with a marker and hang from a clothesline along with a few clothes. Hang this one out front or near the entryway.
Clothesline Baby Shower Centerpiece Ideas:
Make a baby sock rose bouquet and put in a pretty vase. For this centerpiece, we put a baby skirt around the vase and pinned it tight with a safety pin. Put a little double sided tape inside the waistband to help the skirt stick to the top of the vase.

Clothes baskets- Fill a clothes basket with laundry detergent, dryer sheets, baby blankets, towels, and clothes. This centerpiece doubles as a gift for the mom-to-be.

Clothesline Baby Shower Games/Activities:
Decorate Onesies- Buy enough white onesies for each guest to decorate one. Make sure to buy different sizes. Place a piece of cardboard or poster board inside each onesie to give it some support. Let the guests decorate the onesies with fabric markers or puff paint.
After everyone is finished, hang them all up on a clothesline. Have the mommy-to-be pick her top 3 and give the winners a prize. Mom will go home with a bunch of onesies made by her family and friends.
Materials: white onesies (enough for each guest), fabric markers or puff paint, cardboard to put inside each one
* You could also do this activity using bibs instead of onesies. Just buy a bunch of solid colored bibs and let your guests decorate them with fabric markers.
Don't say "baby"- As each guest arrives, give them 3-4 clothespins to pin on their clothes. Tell them they can't say the word "baby". If anyone overhears another guest say "baby" they get to take one of their clothespins. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the shower wins a prize.
Materials: enough clothespins for each guest to get 3-4
Clothesline Baby Shower Race- Have a clothes basket full of baby clothes, socks, towels, blankets, etc. Time each guest and see who can hang the clothes up on the clothesline the fastest. If you have more than one clothesline, have two guests play at a time and race each other. The person with the best time, wins.
Materials: clothes basket, baby clothes, clothesline, clothespins, timer or stopwatch
