Baby Shower Desserts
Ideas + Recipes
Looking for some delicious baby shower desserts? We have many dessert ideas and recipes that are perfect for parties and sure to be a hit. You'll also find tips for making your own dessert or sweets table.
When I am planning a party or baby shower, I usually devote an entire table just for the desserts. A dessert table adds that "wow" factor to your party. It is easy to make sweets look pretty and tie them in with your baby shower theme or colors. Display them on pretty trays, cake stands or any other interesting vessels.
I also like to serve bite size or individual sized portions that can be eaten without a fork. It makes them easy to serve and the guests can eat and still mingle at the same time. This also allows everyone to sample a few things and it gives a lot of variety. You can also put out favor bags or treat boxes and the desserts can double as favors.
Baby Shower Desserts
Cake Pops- these yummy treats are really popular right now! Click on the link or picture for our full photo tutorial.
Oreo Truffles- Oreo cookies turned into mouth watering chocolate truffles. You can't go wrong with these, trust me on this one! The first thing out of someone's mouth when they taste these are "oh my.."
Marshmallow Pops- these are soo simple and inexpensive to make. Just change the color of the sprinkles to match your shower.
Whoopie Pies- think of them as yummy cake sandwiches. We have a simple recipe for making them with cake mix with step by step photo instructions.
Cupcakes- Just like cake, but easier to serve and eat. We've rounded up some of our favorite ideas around the web, along with cupcakes I have made myself for various parties.
Cookies- ideas and recipes for baby shower cookies. We have also supplied some vendors if you would like to leave it to the pro's and order them.
Brownie Bites- these are basically just brownie cupcakes. Make the brownies as directed on the box or your favorite brownie recipe. Pour the batter into mini cupcake or regular cupcake pan sprayed with cooking spray or filled with cupcake liners. Bake the same time as you would cupcakes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the middle. We topped these with icing and wrapped in a cupcake wrapper.
Dipped Pretzel Rods- these are the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Melt almond bark or melting chocolate in a bowl, and dip a pretzel rod halfway down. Drizzle with candy melts, chocolate or top with sprinkles. Lay on waxed paper until the candy hardens.
Shortcake/Parfaits- for the one pictured above, we layered pound cake, peaches and whipped cream in a plastic wine glass. You could also do strawberry shortcake or fruit and yogurt parfaits.
Candy Buffet- and don't forget about candy! This is another easy way to add color to your table and best of all- no cooking required.
Baby Shower Desserts- More tips and ideas
Making your own desserts can save you money, but it can also be time consuming (especially if you are doing a whole table). I always make the desserts the day before the shower and store them in an airtight container or in the refrigerator. If you don't have time to make all the sweets, try making a few yourself and buying a few from your local bakery. Or, buy store bought goods and dress them up yourself with toppers, wrappers, sprinkles and serve them on pretty trays.
