Baby Shower Appetizer Ideas and Recipes

Baby shower appetizers are light and easy to eat, making them perfect for most baby showers. Put out a variety of different appetizers on a table, buffet style, with plates, napkins and utensils, and guests can pick and choose what they like.

I hope you enjoy these appetizer recipes, I have included many of my favorites that are always great for parties. I also try to add recipes and ideas that are quick and easy to prepare as well.

Baby Shower Dips and Spreads

Serve these dips and spreads with crackers, chips, or raw veggies.

Raspberry Cream Cheese Spread- sweet and spicy and simple to make!

Ingredients:
Block of cream cheese
Bottle of raspberry chipotle sauce
Directions:
Open the cream cheese and put on a plate or in a bowl.
Pour some of the raspberry chipotle sauce over the top of the cream cheese. Put out a knife for spreading and serve with crackers

Buffalo Chicken Dip (serves 12)

Ingredients:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 (12 ounce) can chicken, drained
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1/2 cup cups red hot sauce
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and bake in an oven proof dish for 20 minutes at 350. Serve with crackers and celery sticks.

Marshmallow Fruit Dip (10-15 servings)

Ingredients:
8 ounces cream cheese
8 ounces marshmallow cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Directions:
1.Soften cream cheese to room temperature.
2. Mix cream cheese with marshmallow fluff in a medium mixing bowl with a spoon.
3. Stir in vanilla.
4. Put dip in small serving bowl on large plate with cut up fruit arranged around it.

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Ingredients:
1 10oz. frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 container (16 oz.) sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1 package Knorr vegetable recipe mix (by dry soup mixes in stores)
1 can (8oz.) water chestnuts, drained and chopped
Directions:
Combine all ingredients and chill about 2 hours. Serve with crackers and pieces and pumpernickel bread.

7 Layer Mexican Dip

Ingredients:
1 can (16 oz.) refried beans
1 package taco seasoning
1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
8 oz. sour cream
1 cup guacamole
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 chopped tomato or cherry tomatoes sliced
small can of sliced black olives
1 cup shredded cheese
Directions:
Cook meat and drain grease. Add refried beans and taco seasoning.
Layer the remaining ingredients in a 13x9 pan in this order:
Sour cream, Guacamole, Lettuce, Olives, Tomatoes, Cheese.
Serve with tortilla chips.

Baby Shower Appetizers

Meatballs- These meatballs couldn't get much easier and they always get rave reviews. Just throw a few ingredients in a slow cooker and let them cook. Serve them right out of the crock pot.

Ingredients:
2- (12 oz.) jars of Heinz chili sauce
1 (32 oz.) jar of grape jelly
1 bag of frozen meatballs (about 80 in a bag)
Directions:
Put chili sauce and jelly in a large crock pot, heat until jelly is melted and sauce is smooth, stirring often. Add frozen meatballs and heat on high for 1 hour then simmer on low heat for 3 hour

Mini Pizzas

Ingredients:
English muffins, split in half and toasted
Jar of pizza sauce
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Pepperoni and any other desired toppings
Directions:
Heat oven to 400 degrees.
Place muffin halves on a foil lined baking sheet, spread with sauce.
Top with remaining toppings and cheese.
Bake 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Mozzarella and Tomato Appetizer (from allrecipes.com)

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 pinch dried oregano
1 tablespoon capers, drained
2 cloves garlic, minced
6 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 (7 ounce) jar roasted red peppers, drained and julienned
crushed red pepper to taste
Directions:
1.In a medium bowl, mix together parsley, basil, oregano, capers, garlic and olive oil.
2.On a serving platter, arrange mozzarella cheese slices and tomato slices in alternating layers. Top with roasted red peppers. Drizzle with the herb and olive oil mixture. Cover and chill in the refrigerator 30 minutes before sprinkling with crushed red pepper and serving.

Stuffed Jalapenos (makes 24) Recipe from Cyndie in Lakeland, FL

Ingredients:
12 Jalapenos
8 oz cream cheese
1 pkg cocktail wieners
bacon
Directions:
Cut jalapenos in half and remove the seeds.
Fill each half with cream cheese, put a cocktail wiener on top and wrap in half a piece of bacon.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Put a toothpick in each one to hold them together and for easy serving.

Sausage Wontons- from Pam in Lakeland, FL

Ingredients:
1 pkg small wonton wrappers
1 pound pork sausage or ground turkey sausage
2 cups shredded cheese
1/2 chopped bell pepper
1/2 chopped onion
1/2 cup Ranch dressing
Directions:
Press wontons into muffin cups and bake at 350 for 5 minutes or until browned.
Cook sausage, drain, add remaining ingredients.
Spoon into wonton wrappers and bake for about 6-7 minutes

Crab Rangoon

Ingredients:
3 dozen small wonton wrappers
1/2 pound crab meat, drained and chopped
1/2 pound cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon steak sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 egg yolk well beaten
Directions:
Combine crab meat, cream cheese, steak sauce and garlic powder.
Place one heaping tsp. of mixture in the center of wonton wrapper.
Gather edges together, moisten with egg yolk and pinch to seal.
Deep fry in hot oil, in bunches, until golden brown about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
